Last night was the opening night of The Mystery of Edwin Drood. Before the show we partook in the FYP traditions of circle, tech circle, and the women's circle....ver special traditions. Embracing our femininity. The after show dance party on the stage! Awesome! Especially since tons of FYPeople show up for every show and the end. Then the FYPness continues with the cast party after every show.
While at the party, I saw a can of The Allen's Seasoned Turnip Greens...and then I started smiling. I would be the person to grab a can of turnip greens and talk ask everyone if they want them...and so I was that person! It was weird and stupendous! To break any doubt in your confidence, do something wild, spectacular, and very conspicuous, and then embrace it. Embrace your strangeness. And so I had some very interesting conversations.
The night went to The Allen's Seasoned Turnip Greens! You could look like PopEye!

1st Days of Hell Week
Currently listening to Stairway (and in mid-statement I saw a f*cking stinkbug crawling towards me on my bed....causing me to jump up and shriek) to Heaven. Tonight was my 2nd night of Hell Week in the preparation of The Mystery of Edwin Drood, by Charles Dickens. The rehearsals last 6 hours, from 6 pm to midnight. With finals upcoming, we will see how this new schedule works. My job as sound manager involves putting mic packs on the correct cast members. Wrap, batteries, condoms, wires (hair wires?! So difficult!), and changing the wires and mic packs at the correct times. I'm glad that I get to hang out backstage but I would really like to see the final production after so much time and work.
Harrison Center Crew
I went to hang out with my Yorktown buddies! Taylor, Campbell, Anna, Charlotte, and Maggie! Starbucks. Sharing stories. I have so many different friends, and I love to recount with all of them.
Reencounter of the Fieldfolk
We spent a night at Andrew's. Abin, Alex, Andrew, Chris, Jasmine, Sam, Audrey, and Emma! Oh Emma! I hadn't seen her in so long! I loved to hear about her stories from Yale! I'm so excited that she loves it there. The people sound incredible. Spending time with this group of friends is cathartic. It was fun and gave me closure. Seeing old friends is how you appreciate that you all have begun you're own paths. The true friends will cross paths with each other while not interfering with those others' along the road.
The 4 from TJ
Manon asked me for a favor of oatmeal and I complied. I drove her and her sister, Eileen, to their apartment home. It was like a summer flashback! I stepped into their apartment to find many bottles of wine, many finished wine glasses, and many joyous welcomes! I got to see Jasmine and Kayla for the first time since leaving for college. I still love them! Some of my best friends! Even though we had been apart and had not talked in the absence, it felt like it had only been yesterday since we had talked....except that we had many more stories to tell.
We spent the night sharing our stories on the beds pushed together, drinking a Spanish red and a red wine from our times in Burgundy over the summer. I asked: what's the craziest thing you've done? The stupidest? Funny moments? Love interests?
Jasmine's boy Tyler!
Consumed so much OATMEAL! Slow, separated movements. Great night!

Back to the Bonfire
1st full day back on my Thanksgiving break! I needed to see everyone so BONFIRE! People that showed up:
Cayden and Alex, Kaitlyn, Lisa
Campbell
Nigel
Charlotte and Anna
Shiva and Giulia and YHS boys
Hagar, Claire, Emily, Abby, Brittany, Jessica, Zoe
Sarah and Isabel
Dudka, Brendan, Shane, Timmy
Erin and Kirby
Alex, Chris, Abin, Andrew
Manon
Hannah, Maggie
Kamari, Jordan
I feel like I've fallen back into my normal routine, like talking to my friends is the same as it ever was...but slightly different. The stories they tell are about people I don't know and that I didn't take part in. Now that I see all my friends again, I am starting to realize what amazing people they are and how much I want to stay in their lives. I want to be present, I want to stay their friends. I love them all so much!

Home Again
Falling back into normal routines. Nothing is quite how it should be but nothing has really changed. You are removed from the house, a visitor to your previous home.
Drove Cayden back home. Dad's rice. Tea. Fresh cold water. A comfy couch and warm blanket. Home again.

O-hill Meetings
I believe her name is Sam. One day at O-hill, I didn't have anyone to sit with so I sat by myself on the edge of a table near to two girls, one of which I thought I recognized. They decided to talk to me and we were introduced. The one I thought was familiar I realized I had never seen before, but now I know her name and I see her quite often. We are currently on friendly terms.

New Dominions
This past Saturday, for the majority of the day, I worked in the SAB with my FYPeople to put together the stage, props, costumes, lighting, and sound for The Mystery of Edwin Drood. I have really started to get to know my FYPeople, which is a blessing because they are all very cool people. The wide range of activities that everyone is involved in inspires me to keep doing more!
I spent time with my Sangria familia and met up with Sarah, Rebecca, and her Monroe Society prospee. The New Dominion's concert was fantastic! I wish I could sing so I could be part of such a tight-knit group. They did covers of the songs:
Falling Slowly, by Glen Hansard & Marketa Irglova
Near to You, by A Fine Frenzy
Almost Lover, by A Fine Frenzy
After these memorable songs, we left for the after party.
British accents and BABY CARROTS!
Met several new people: Matthew, Jared, Greg, Jonathan (also from Arlington)
After a fabulous night, Sarah and I traveled homeward and watched BUFFY! The night ends with BUFFY!

Alderman at Midnight
First time getting kicked out of Alderman Library! For the majority of the day/night, I spent my time in the classic old stacks of Alderman Library. I sat in a carrel on 3M among the shelves of ancient pages. Alderman can be pretty creepy as I finally realized tonight as the lights were being turned off all around me at midnight.
I laughed as I saw the studious hoards travel out of Alderman to Clemons; long nights for them!
